Robosynthesis, based near Reading, Berkshire (near M4 corridor, M3, Reading, Slough, Maidenhead, Basingstoke) in the United Kingdom is the industrial modular robotics platform that’s reconfigurable in-the-field to perform a wide range of missions using a variety of sensors and tools, different physical configurations, and various terrain-optimised traction systems. Our platforms have been used at CERN in the LHC, at Chernobyl, at the National Physical Laboratory, inside gas pressure vessels, and even in chicken sheds.

We’re recruiting Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineers with experience of building, testing and evaluating products in development through to manufacturing. You'll be joining our young and growing team working on a range of research and commercial products.
You'll be involved in the full lifecycle of mechanical and mechatronics design and development, from architectural design and planning through to the delivery and testing of robust, highly exploitable systems.

Engineering research, design, and development of solid models, drawings, and other engineering documents using Microsoft Office software and Solid Edge or Solid Works CAD software;
Design of project objectives that will meet the determined requirements;
Evaluate engineering data to ensure successful progress and completion of assignments;
Coordination of project phases with designers, drafters, and technicians in order to complete assignments;
Assembly and testing of mechatronic systems;
Using innovation and creativity, evaluate ongoing projects, make recommendations, and direct necessary changes in the methods or processes;
Practice prudent engineering and effectively apply formal engineering training to add to the overall effectiveness of the engineering team;
Production of new designs and components to improve quality, cost, and performance based on knowledge of engineering principles with the support of other functional engineers, manufacturing, supply management, and other personnel;
Research and evaluate new materials, equipment and processes;
Development of components drawings and prototypes;
Manage quality and recommend improvements by facilitating process reviews, manufacturing methods, equipment tooling, and training.
Lead responsibility for analysis, specification, verification, and validation of product requirements with particular focus on the customer and end user;
Resolve complex manufacturing-related problems affecting daily operations;
Implement and advance quality control practices;
Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating products, processes and production equipment.
Important skills & experience
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics;
Comparable work experience preferred;
Understanding of mechanics, structures and mechanisms;
Proficiency in CAD (Solid Edge or Solid Works);
Comfortable in the midst of ambiguity;
Previous hands-on involvement in robotics projects including the design, build, test and delivery of complete systems;
FEA experience would be a plus;
Elementary electronics and the ability to assemble simple PCBs and circuit boards is also an advantage.
